- You can run other programs like librarians etc, unfortunately there are
- very few other programs specifically for the i-series but that will
- change over time. Reasons I use the computer at home to send MIDI to
- the synth instead of the i3's drive are
- 1. I rely on the internal drive on stage and I don't want to wear it
- out. I'm not sure if the drive is a standard 720K drive or a special
- KORG type - anyone know for future reference??
- 2. You can have many more songs on the Hard Drive than you can on a
- floppy.
- 3. I use a program called mdf (it's on my site) which allows you to
- transfer things like global settings, all arrangements, bseqs etc
- to/from the synth.

- No questions are stupid.
- The most SB's (I haven't looked at an AWE32 but I assume it's the same)
- have a 15 pin connector on the back. This has connections for a
- joystick and midi interface. I don't know how much you know about midi
- interfaces but they basically use an opto-couplers to transfer data from
- one device to another (to stop earthing problems). The synth has an
- optocoupler on its midi IN port but the SB doesn't have one on it's midi
- IN. The SB also doesn't have 5 pin DIN sockets to plug midi in. There
- is an adapter you buy which has a 15pin plug on one end and 2 5pin DINs
- to provide midi IN and OUT. This is where you plug the synth in - MIDI
- OUT of COMPUTER to MIDI IN of SYNTH and vice versa.
- Contact me privately and I'll give you details on making a simple
- adapter which costs $10-$15 (depending on what electronic bits and
- pieces you may have in a junk box and how skillful you are with
- electronics.).
